Here are some questions frequently asked by clients. Please contact me if you have any questions that are not answered here.

The Photo Session:

Q: Where does the session take place?

A: The session may take place in my indoor studio or my outdoor Portrait Garden (weather permitting).

Q: How long do sessions last?

A: Sessions may last anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes. We allow plenty of time for feedings (for newborns), playing and getting comfortable with each other. Sessions are never rushed so that everyone can feel calm and relaxed. If your child is sick or unusually cranky, please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment. Your photos will reveal your child's mood.

Q: How far in advance should I schedule my session?

A: Sessions are usually booked approximately 2-3 weeks in advance. The holiday season may require bookings 4 weeks in advance. Weekends book up more quickly than weekdays.

Q: What time should I arrive for my session?

A: All sessions are by appointment only. Please try to be on time.** If you are early, you may have to wait while another session is completed. If you are late, you will have less time for your own session. If you anticipate being more than 15 minutes late, you may need to call to reschedule for another day.

**It is very important to be on time for your sitting. Please try to check and organize your clothing and accessories the day before the sitting to avoid last minute panic. Hair should be curled and/or dry. Also if you need to change your children’s clothing after they have arrived at the studio, please plan to come a few minutes early so that we can spend the maximum amount of your appointment time photographing your family!

Q: What time of day is best for my session?

A: It is best (and recommended) to have morning sessions for babies and children, as this is the time of day when they are at their happiest and is an ideal time for creating the best portraits. It's important that your child is well rested and has had a snack or meal before arriving for your session to achieve the best photos from your session. Do not give your child sticky or staining snacks before or during the sitting.

Q: How should I prepare my child for the photo session?

A: We are looking for natural, relaxed expressions. Do not overly prepare your child by practicing smiles. Tell your child we will have a wonderful time with many laughs and giggles.

Q: Should I bring someone to help me with my children?

A: Children tend to get overwhelmed and over stimulated when several people are trying to get them to smile. Sometimes the best portraits are created when everyone has left the room, allowing Ellen to interact one on one. However, if we are photographing several children, it may be beneficial to bring another person to help out.

Q: Do you shoot black and white or color?

A: This is your choice. We can shoot black and white and color in the same session. You may, however, want to decide which will be your main emphasis, since this will substantially help you choose the most appropriate clothing for the sitting. Remember, children often do not have the patience for clothing changes. Also, clothing changes may tire babies and very young children. Keep in mind, black and white shots cannot be converted into color. Color shots can be successfully converted into black and white prints 8x10 or smaller. Please let Ellen know which you prefer before your sitting begins.

Q: Do you shoot digitally?

A: We use film, but we have all the capabilities of digital photo manipulation, such as, corrective artwork, artistic effects, creation of collages or montages, etc.

After the Session:

Q: When can I see my proofs? Can I take my proofs home with me?</p>

A: Your proofs will be ready for viewing approximately in 2 weeks. We will set up an appointment for you to meet with Ellen to discuss the many options for cropping, enhancing and displaying your portraits. Once you are at home with these prints, feel free to call or email us with additional questions. We do request that you order within a two week period of time. If you do so and if you place a minimum order, you will have the option of buying your proofs.

Payment:

Q: What forms of payment are accepted?

A: We accept cash, check, Visa and MasterCard. Please make checks payable to Ellen Koransky.

Q: Do I pay in full at the time of ordering?

A: Because each order is custom printed, a deposit will be required at the time of your order.

Q: Is there sales tax on my order?

A: Yes. Georgia sales tax will be charged on any in state order.

Q: How long does it take to receive my ordered portraits?

A: Quality takes time. Please allow 6-8 weeks for your order to be completed. Some orders may take longer. We look at your portraits as an investment and an heirloom that we do not want to rush.

Q: Can I give a Gift Certificate?

A: Yes. We will custom design any Gift Certificate and even mail it for you!
